It's called "innovation", not "penis measuring contest"

And here's some one else that's gotten the point the Wii is trying to make (and managing very well at that).

Fighting the flab: Week one results

Today's weigh-in was a bit disappointing.

I didn't expect to have lost much, just a tiny bit maybe. But no, I haven't lost an ounce! It does however take the body some time to get used to moving again and the metabolism takes some time to get going. Maybe I'll see some results next week, if not at least I'm still having fun right? ;-) And as I've already reported, my stamina is getting a lot better at least.

Also, since I got my paycheck just yesterday I haven't really started on the japanese diet yet either (although I had a little bit of japanese food this week), and I will be expecting some results from that if from nothing else.

It struck me today how damn lame it is to report every single day of Wii-playing. Not even I am that interested in how much I play ;-) So from here on I might just do weekly summaries if anything at all. But you can all be sure that I will be playing my Wii no matter what, and at least 30 minutes of "Wii Sports" every day. No cheating, I promise!

A fine day for Nintendo fanboys

"Mario Kart 64" was released for the Virtual Console today! I'm ecstatic I tell you. I looove Mario Kart in all of its incarnations so I was really quick to download this one to my Nintendo Wii.

As if that wasn't enough good news Nintendo launched the much anticipated (by me at least!) News Channel today, and it's actually pretty neat. It looks good and its functionality is actually better than I expected. So thank you for another neat Wii-toy Nintendo.

Speaking of toys, I've read some rumours that my webbrowser of choice, Mozilla Firefox, may be coming to the Nintendo Wii. If there is any truth at all to that rumour I'll be beside myself with joy. My fave browser on my Wii, how awesome is that?!

And for my workout today I opted for nothing but Boxing once again.

Here's todays Wii-activities:

Fighting the flab: Day five (feel the buuuurn!!!)

The unusual amount of movement during the past few days is definitely taking its toll on my body.

Last night I was so sore in my right shoulder that I had problems getting to sleep. I actually had to get up and rub the muscles until they were blue before the pain subsides significantly enough for me to be able to sleep. I've still been really sore all day at work.

But nobody likes a quitter so...

My longest workout yet! Boo-yah! And get this, it was all Boxing too!

The odd thing is though, that I'm not by far as tired today as I was after my workout just two days ago. So apparently, my fitness level is improving already! Weighing in on saturday is gonna be really interesting indeed.

Fighting the flab: Day four

First thing I did tonight was hook myself up with three new Virtual Console games; "R-Type", "Super Mario 64" and "Gunstar Heroes". Then I begun my workout, and here's how it went:

Wii Shop Channel 00:11
R-TYPE 00:04
Wii Sports 00:50

Total Play Time 01:05

Naturally I don't really count the fifteen minutes of shopping and goofing off with "R-Type" as part of my workout. Mainly Boxing today otherwise, and a short game of Tennis as well.

Must... Have... New... Game... For... Wii!!!

So I'm spending my lunch-hour today chowing down on some japanese-style casserole with green bell peppers and chickenliver (yum... and I mean that) while researching what games to buy next for my Nintendo Wii.

Currently I'm leaning towards "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance". The reviews I've read so far have been pretty positive and I'm a huge Marvel-fan which pretty much seals the deal right there haha.

I've also been giving "Rampage: Total Destruction" some serious thought but the reviews have been really bad for the most part so I think I'll pass on it. Also I'm pretty sure I find it compelling mainly for nostalgic reasons, and I'm not sure nostalgia is quite worth the price of a brand new video game. Not right now at least. Maybe when my cashflow is a little better.

I have however decided to spend some cash on a bunch of games for Virtual Console. I'll probably get "Gunstar Heroes", "Super Mario 64" and "R-Type", maybe "Super Castlevania IV" as well, all great classic and trustworthy games.

I need to stock up on stuff to do you see, because in 10 days I'm moving and after the move I will not have any internet or digital-TV for 3-5 weeks until my supplier finds the time to reconnect my sorry ass :-/

So february will be a huge month for video gaming since I will not have much else to do. I'll still be updating this blog during my lunch-hour at work though, so stay tuned!

Oh, and please feel free to leave comments with tips about games for the Nintendo Wii!

Fighting the flab: Day three

Total play time: 00:30

My shortest workout so far but quite possibly the hardest yet. I played nothing but Boxing today as well, but I really went at it this time. My arms were flailing like those of a madman from start to finish as I didn't throw as many big punches as I usually do, instead opting for raining down on my opponents with lots of quick punches and combinations.

Right now my arms feel like run-over spaghetti and I'm tired as hell. But it's a good kind of tired ;-)

This is why I love Virtual Console!

Playing "Super Mario Bros." on my 32" LCD-TV is the shiiiiiiit!!!

I also downloaded "Xevious" tonight, and found out first hand that it apparently has the most annoying music in a video game ever. Who knew? ;-)

But Virtual Console is awesome. To be able to simply download and play all these legacy games that I fell in love with at an early age is just priceless. Leave it to Nintendo to come up with such a brilliant idea. I mean, not only am I able to play GameCube-games on my Wii but Virtual Console turns it into every Nintendo-console ever made! Except for the handheld ones that is. The people at Nintendo really have a firm grasp on the whole idea of backwards-compatibility and all of us fanboys are rejoicing because of it.

Now I'm just waiting for "Kid Icarus" and "Pro Wrestling" to be released in Europe. Then I'll really be ecstatic!

Fighting the flab: Day one

This morning I weighed myself and the scale showed 97 kilos. I will be weighing myself every saturday for as long as this experiment continues, rather than every single day which was my original plan. But weighing myself every day is pretty pointless really so once a week it'll be.

I've now just finished my Wii-workout done entirely with "Wii Sports" and today consisted of seven or eight matches of Boxing, three games of Tennis and a run through Wii Fitness (which I by the way find very boring).

And now I'm really beat...

A tiny head start

OK, so I couldn't resist giving myself a little head start on this whole slimming-with-Wii-thing.

So when I got home from work I treated myself to some "Wii Sports" in the form of two matches of Boxing and three matches of Tennis.

Total play time 0:28

I also weighed myself, although one should really weigh oneself in the morning rather than in the evening, and the scale shows 98 kilos. So that's my starting point I guess.

Stay tuned for more Wii-workout tomorrow!

Fighting the flab with Wii

Although it is hardly an original idea, inspired by this article on Engadget I've decided to do my very own Wii flab fighting experiment.

So starting tomorrow I'll be incorporating my Nintendo Wii and especially "Wii Sports" into my long procrastinated plans for weight loss. I'm gonna try to fit in 30-60 minutes of Wii-play every day. That's not all I'm gonna do though.

I will also start watching what I eat more and possibly as soon as my next paycheck comes in at the end of this month I'm gonna try to convert to a healthy diet largely comprised of dishes from the japanese cuisine. Lots of sushi, miso-soup and so on, just like in the fabled homeland of the glorious Nintendo Company.

Every day, or at least almost every day, I'll check my weight loss and write about it and my activities here in this blog.

At the end of February we'll see if the Wii-play and japanese diet has earned me any results to speak of.

First post ever

Welcome to the Wii Warrior blog and my very first post.

This blog will be about me and my video gaming. That's gaming in general, don't let the title fool you, I will not only be writing about the amazing Nintendo Wii but also about other neat consoles that I enjoy, such as the Xbox, Game Boy Advance, Sega Mega Drive and anything else that sparks my fancy.

I can't promise it will be the least interesting to anyone but myself, and quite frankly I don't give a damn if it is or not. I just wanna write about video games, OK?
